Check out how the past Charlie Bukart Scholarship winners are doing through/after college!

Nicholas Higgins – 2016 Scholarship Recipient

Nick has been doing very good for his first year at Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Florida. Nick wrote,  “I felt like I closed out the year strong, and did well on my finals. I passed 2 more PGA Knowledge tests this semester and just keep continuing my path to the PGA. I had right around a 3.6 GPA for my entire freshman year and that was good enough to put me on the Dean’s List.

This summer, as I told you before, I am interning at Des Moines Golf & Country Club. What an amazing club! There is a lot going on there every single day. I have been supervising the bagroom, working in the golf shop, and helping with junior golf. I really enjoy seeing what is going on behind the scenes at a club like this. The Solheim Cup is coming up fast and I am very pumped up for that as well”.

Great job to Nick on his first year and we wish him the best of luck on the upcoming school year!

Aaron Wirt – 2015 Scholarship Recipient

Aaron won the Charlie Burkart Scholarship Award in 2015. Wirt has been doing very well and transferred from University of Iowa to Vanderbilt University in Nashville after his freshman year. He wrote, “As much as I loved playing golf at Iowa and the team that I was on, I wanted to focus more on school and decided that a smaller school was a better fit for me than a larger school like Iowa. Even though I no longer play collegiate golf I do get out and play regularly and enjoy it immensely. I am so thankful for all that golf has taught me, and for my scholarship because it helps out even more now that I go to a school out of state”.

Keep up the good work and we wish you luck at Vanderbilt University!

Jordan Bowers – 2014 Scholarship Recipient

Jordan was the 2014 Charlie Bukart Scholarship Recipient and attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and become a part of the PGA Golf Management program. Jordan wrote, “Since beginning school, I have had the opportunity to work at incredible places, including Des Moines Golf and Country Club, Cascata, and currently at Southern Highlands Golf Club. Along with DMGCC, I have completed internships at Incline Village Championship Course in Lake Tahoe and at Lookout Mountain Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ. Through my exploration of the industry, I have developed a passion for teaching and am looking forward to future internships and jobs that involve this aspect of the game”.

Continue the hard work Jordan and we hope you continue to travel and do what you love with the game of golf!
