On December 13, 2016 at 4:15 p.m. the Iowa PGA Foundation and TrueNorth Greater Cedar Rapids Open attended Coolidge Elementary in Cedar Rapids school district. The TrueNorth Cedar Rapids Open is presented a $16,000 check to the Iowa PGA Foundation to introduce the game of golf to all elementary schools through physical education classes within the Cedar Rapids Community School District impacting 21 elementary schools in the area!

TrueNorth Greater Cedar Rapids Open loves giving back to their community as they have contributed more than $140,000 – mostly to youth-related charities – since its inception in 1999. An official Internal Revenue Service Qualified 501 (c-3) organization, the GCRO made nearly $15,000 in charitable donations in 2015. TrueNorth Greater Cedar Rapids Open has donated to multiple charitable beneficiaries such as Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids, Camp Courageous, Cedar Rapids Optimist Junior Golf Association, American Red Cross, and many more!

The Iowa PGA Foundation Swings with Kids program utilizes the game of golf to positively impact lives through charitable giving with emphasis scholarships, junior golf, and injured veterans.  The IPGA Foundation is currently in the process of implementing golf instruction within school districts which reside within the state of Iowa and Western Illinois. The Swings with Kids program will introduce the game of golf with the direction of the Iowa PGA Professionals inside physical education classes. Students will learn about golf and will also benefit from the numerous life skills that the game of golf offers! This program is helping kids excel by introducing them to the life skills that include character, honesty, integrity, respect, perseverance, and cooperation.
